Language is a source of our speech, basis of any conversation, a key to communication. You would not survive without speaking any language at all. As we all know, every group of people in the world has their own ways of interaction. They use their own alphabet to write, own signs to show, own grammar rules to make sentences, own word formation laws, own punctuation, own language peculiarities, etc. Language is every country's personal system, which is used by its inhabitants in everyday life. Different languages - diverse minds and inner worlds. But would not it be much easier and more convenient to use only one language? One language - one thinking, one life, one reliable understanding, and... one goal!? Just imagine. Some people have already thought through this idea. However, the opinions are completely different.
Some people suppose that a sole language would make the
whole situation in the world much better than it is. First, using only one
conversation tool will help people with money and product exchange. For
instance, it will assist people in making successful business deals without any
language problems and misunderstandings between each other. Or will make the
speeches on international meetings comprehensible. Moreover, one language is a
key to travelling easily, because you do not have to visit any language
schools, waste money on learning French or Italian, spend time on a 10-year
studying Chinese, for example. You will fly to every country with a soothing
thought that wherever you go, you'll always be understood! For both
these reasons speaking one language all over the world is much more suitable for
everyone.
Nonetheless, others consider this idea crazy, awkward and
even harmful. To start with, different language show country’s cultural features,
describes nation’s mentality, makes the world divided into variable parts to
discover. So, with a sole language’s emergence into our world, people will not strive
to discover new culture, and some countries can even disappear at all! Furthermore,
some professions will just disappear, and millions of people will lose their
jobs. First of all, It concerns such professions as: translator, interpreter, language
teacher, copyrighter, linguist, etc. That is because their field of knowledge is
language. Secondly, polyglots will disappear at all! Maybe that is not a big
problem for the whole world, but for those who devoted themselves to languages,
it will become a tragedy. So, one language is unsustainable for a mankind.
All in all, people have different thoughts about this
issue. Language is a complicated organism! People stretch it, spoil it, break
it, repair it.. It is just a person’s instrument, not more. It does not matter
how many languages there are in the world, people should communicate using something!
